Helen Newberry Joy Hospital is pleased to welcome Brook Dake, FNP, as an advanced practice provider in the Gibson Family Health Clinic.

Brook earned a Bachelor of Science in biology with a concentration in physiology, a pre-medical degree, from Northern Michigan University. While at NMU, she attended service trips to Nicaragua, where her passion for family medicine was established. She then went on to complete Ferris State University's Accelerated Nursing Program. In January 2017, she earned a Masters Degree from the University of Michigan – Flint’s Nurse Practitioner Program.

Dake has a variety of experience in a number of healthcare facilities across Michigan. After graduating from NMU, she worked as a CNA at Marquette County Medical Care in Ishpeming, MI, Golden Leaves Living Center and North Woods Homecare & Hospice in Newberry, MI. After further education at FSU, she worked as an RN at Spectrum Health in Reed City, MI, a small community hospital. Dake completed clinical rotations at a VA outpatient clinic in Clare, MI, and Marquette Internal Medicine and Pediatric Associates in Marquette, MI.

Brook graduated from Newberry High School in 2009; she believes NHS prepared her very well for college. “I returned home to give back to the community that has given so much to me,” says Brook. “I appreciate the small town life where people look out for one another. The Upper Peninsula is a unique place and I’m grateful to live and work here.”
