Cardio-Pulmonary - Respiratory Therapy and Rehabilitation

Helen Newberry Joy Hospital’s Cardio-Pulmonary Department offers respiratory therapy and treatment to patients of all ages—from infants to elderly patients—who have heart or lung conditions such as heart disease, COPD, asthma, chronic bronchitis, emphysema or cystic fibrosis.

Cardiopulmonary diseases are disorders that affect the normal functions of the heart and lung. Our team of registered respiratory therapists collaborate with other medical specialists and cardiopulmonary rehabilitation specialists to ensure the best therapy and treatments are available to our patients.

For patients requiring ongoing care, Pulmonary Rehabilitation is available here at Helen Newberry Joy with a referral from a physician. You and your Pulmonary Rehab team will set goals that are tailored to your situation and the types of activities that are most important to you.

Pulmonary Rehabilitation

Electrocardiogram (EKG or ECG) – a test performed in the Hospital. The test checks for problems with the electrical activity of your heart. An EKG translates the heart's electrical activity into line tracings on paper. The spikes and dips in the line tracings are called waves

Holter Monitoring (similar to an Electrocardiogram) – a continuous tape recording of a patient's EKG for 24-48 hours. Since it can be worn during the patient's regular daily activities, it helps the physician correlate symptoms of dizziness, palpitations (a sensation of fast or irregular heart rhythm) or blackouts.

Whether you are an inpatient or an outpatient, our Cardio-Pulmonary Department will work to help you breathe easier.
