Dr. Peter M. Ranta, Allergist, grew up in Northern Michigan in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. He attended the University of Michigan for his undergraduate studies. After receiving his Bachelor of Science with Distinction, he attended Medical School at Michigan State University’s College of Human Medicine.

After Medical School, Dr. Ranta completed a three year Internal Medicine residency program at Ball Memorial Hospital, Muncie, Indiana.

Dr. Ranta then headed South to Augusta, Georgia, to the Medical College of Georgia for his two year Allergy-Asthma-Immunology Subspecialty Fellowship program, which was centered on Pediatric and Adult patients of all ages.

Peter M. Ranta, M.D. is Board Certified in Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Allergy and Immunology.

Dr. Ranta is a member of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology (AAAAI), American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology (ACAAI), and the Christian Medical and Dental Association (CMDA).

Dr. Ranta’s family is originally from Finland and he is fluent in Finnish. He is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Eero Ranta. He enjoys cross-country skiing and outdoor sports. Dr. Ranta places great importance in his faith in God and he is active in his church. Dr. Ranta resides in Sault Ste. Marie with his wife and children.
