| Helen Newberry Joy Hospital and Healthcare Center |
Joint Commission Accreditation Organizations such as Helen Newberry Joy Hospital & Healthcare Center voluntarily undergo a survey by a full team of Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations experts every three years. The most important reason for becoming Joint Commission accredited is to improve the safety and quality of patient care. After being surveyed, the organization receives one of six accreditation decisions ranging from Full Standards Compliance to Denied. Joint Commission has deemed both the Hospital and Long Term Care to be fully compliant. Our full accreditation signifies our commitment to safety and quality and to quality improvement. Joint Commission accreditation makes a strong statement to our community about our desire to provide safe, quality care. It serves as an index that our practitioners meet national standards for safety and quality for our patients and others. The Joint Commission evaluates almost 11,000 hospitals and home care agencies, and more than 7,000 other health care organizations. The accreditation process encompasses standards-setting, evaluation and education activities. Thus, one unique characteristic of Joint Commission accreditation is the breadth and diversity of services provided under an umbrella that is national in scope and recognition. Another important component of Joint Commission is that the survey team consisting of health care professionals provides consultation and education to our staff members as an integral part of the survey. |
