Helen Newberry Joy Hospital & Healthcare Center offers a program for patients who are unable to pay their hospital bills – HELP. Consideration for qualification under the HELP program is based on a patient’s income and other financial indicators. HELP is not an insurance program, and assistance applies only to services performed at/provided by Helen Newberry Joy Hospital and Clinics. For more information about the HELP program or for an application, please contact one of our Patient Accounts representatives at (906) 293-9115 or (906) 293-9123 or use the “Contact Us” feature of our website. | Frequently Asked Questions 1. What is a deductible? A deductible is usually a set dollar amount that you pay before your insurance plan begins reimbursement. 2. What is a co-payment? A co-payment is a portion of your health care expenses that is not covered by your insurance. 3. Who is responsible for paying my bill? The hospital first sends a claim into your insurance company. The insurance company sends a payment to HNJH based on your insurance plan. The remainder of the bill then becomes your responsibility. If you are unable to pay the full amount after you receive your bill please contact our Patient Accounts office to make arrangements at 906-293-9115. 4. What other bill may I receive? In addition to the bill from HNJH, you may receive a bill from the doctor or other doctors who provided services to you. 5. Why didn't my insurance pay? You will need to contact your insurance company and speak directly to them.
