Lab Fasting Information
Fasting means: NO food, drink, or smoking for a minimum of 12 hours before blood is drawn.
Patients may still take their medications with a small amount of water, unless your physician has specifically told you otherwise.
Candy, gum, mints, or coffee should not be consumed if your lab tests require fasting. These items can alter your test results.
